Gratitude is a popular theme in the United States during Thanksgiving time, when Americans are supposed to reflect on what they are thankful for. But apparently it’s not the only time they do so. A majority of Americans (78%) feel a strong sense of gratitude or thankfulness on a weekly basis, according to a 2015 poll by the Pew Research Center.
And that’s a good thing, because a study from the Greater Good Science Center at the University of California, Berkeley, showed that practitioners of gratitude have:
- Stronger immune systems and lower blood pressure
- Higher levels of positive emotions
- More joy, optimism, and happiness
- More generosity and compassion
- Fewer feelings of loneliness and isolation
What’s more, according to recent neuroscience studies at the National Institute of Health, when we feel gratitude our brain does two things: first, we have “more activity in the hypothalamus which controls bodily habits such as eating, drinking, and sleeping, and influences our stress levels, thus promoting better sleep, nutrition, and decreased depression; and second, we activate dopamine, the ‘feel good’ transmitter which also promotes action and forms habits, thus activating a positive response again and again.”
So, our brains are actually hard wired to receive positive responses when we practice gratitude. Of course that reminds me of Bio-Touch. Just as those studies showed the benefits of practicing gratitude, studies on Bio-Touch have shown similar outcomes. After having Bio-Touch, people feel more cared for, their stress, blood pressure, and pain levels are lowered and they feel relaxed and happier.
When I think about the vision that the Bio-Touch organization has—seeing people all over the planet sharing Bio-Touch with their families and friends in a community of healing—I can also envision such a community filled with gratitude as their health and happiness skyrockets. Talk about taking responsibility for our own health! That’s why we should share Bio-Touch and be grateful for this gift to humanity. It’s a win-win for all of us!
